YES The SPRED center is an agency of the Archdiocese of Chicago and is responsible for training parish leaders and catechists. Seven levels of competency are offered.
Please contact Mrs. Schultz or the SPRED office at 312-842-1039 for more detailed information regarding training.

What skills should a new member possess?
You need to feel comfortable dealing with children and adults who have learning problems and developmental disabilities. You must attend a mandatory training program.

This ministry opportunity is open to men and women, high school age to 60+ years old.

With the growth of your membership, what other parish or community services would be possible?
More persons with disabilities could participate in the SPRED program.

The SPRED CENTER at St. Mary of Czestochowa Parish serves young adults who meet in the Social Center located on 31st Street and 50th Avenue in Cicero. Sessions are held on Saturday mornings throughout the school year on regularly scheduled dates. If a child who is a parishioner is in need of this type of program the Parish chairperson, Sophie Schultz, will make the initial interview and provide the parents with the necessary information.
